I need to start this post with a massive disclaimer, this recipe will put kilos on the hips, descend you into a chocolate coma and turn kids into sugar loaded maniacs! So after telling you the major disadvantages to this recipe what may you ask are the advantages - its simply AMAZING and even better with a large scoop of ice cream!
It is no secret that I am not a dessert person, but let me tell you the 3 mouthfuls of this pudding I had could almost sway me into turning into one. The fudge from the sauce, the light sponge and the oodles of chocolate was divine,
This is definitely the ultimate comfort dessert that everyone will love. I will say that it is very rich and unless you are a chocolate addict like my husband you wont need to have much to satisfy your sweet tooth.
When I decided to make a chocolate dessert over the Easter break for my family I did momentarily thing about reducing sugar and making it slightly more healthy and then I ditched the idea. While I promote healthy eating in my family and on this website, part of healthy eating is also realising that there is nothing wrong with having a treat every now and then.
This is certainly not a dessert I would make and eat every week or suggest others do, however, there is nothing wrong with the odd chocolate and sugar coma and when you feel the need to have one this is the dessert to do it with!!

1 cup plain flour
1/3 cup caster sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup milk
1/4 cup melted butter
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 cup milk choc chips
1/3 cup caster sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 tbs cocoa powder
1 1/4 cup boiling water
Preheat oven to 170 degrees and lightly grease deep oven dish and set aside.
Mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder and baking powder together in a bowl.
Add milk, butter and vanilla essence and mix through until the batter is smooth.
Pour the batter into the prepared oven dish and spread out evenly.
Arrange the choc chips over the top of the batter.
For the sauce add the sugars and cocoa powder together in a bowl and mix through.
Sprinkle over the top of the batter evenly.
Slowly pour the boil water over the sauce mixture using the back of a metal spoon.
Place in oven and bake.
When cooked through remove from the oven and serve immediately. Dont forget to add ice cream!
