Easy BBQ Sauce

You are either a BBQ sauce or a tomato ketchup/sauce person. Our house is evenly divided and my husband and son are 100% BBQ sauce people.
This sauce is a replica for an everyday smokey BBQ sauce that is perfect for cooking or marinating, or used as a condiment.
This recipe is preservative and additive free, but ONLY if you use our EDMK Tomato Ketchup/Sauce recipe or another homemade sauce. There is a beautiful hint of smoke and a touch of sweetness that layers itself over and over.
If you thought our tomato sauce/ketchup recipe was easy to make, then hold on to your pants because this is super easy!
Prep 5 min // Cook 40 min (Thermomix 35 min)
INGREDIENTS
2 cups of EDMK Tomato Sauce/Ketchup (or any other sauce you wish to use)
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup honey
3 tbs brown sugar
2 tbs soy sauce
2 tbs Worcestershire sauce
5 cloves garlic
1 onion
2 tsp smoked paprika
2 tsp mustard powder
1/8 tsp chilli powder (optional)
1 tsp salt
1tsp pepper
1 tbs olive oil
THERMOMIX METHOD
Place the onion and garlic in bowl, chop 3sec/sp8 then scrape down sides.
Add olive oil and saute 3min/varoma/sp1 with MC off.
Add all the remaining ingredients and cook for 25min/100deg/sp1.
Scrape down the sides and cook for a further 10min/100deg/sp1.
Blitz* if you want a smooth consistency 10sec/sp4 until desired consistency is achieved.
Non-THERMOMIX METHOD
Dice the onion finely and mince the garlic cloves.
Heat oil in a saucepan on a medium heat. When hot saute the onion and garlic for 10 minutes until the onion is soft and translucent.
Add all the remaining ingredients and cook uncovered on a low heat for 30 minutes.
Remove from the stove and allow to cool. Blend* until you reach your desired consistency.
*Note: I do not blend this sauce unless I want to use it as a condiment. I find that when it is cooked the consistency is best for marinades and general cooking.
