Herb Steak & Garlic Butter

Updated: May 20, 2019

Steak Spice Mix gently rubbed on the steak and then cooked in the garlic butter

I am known for my bargain meat shopping. Rarely in our family is a meal made from full price meat. I bought a chest freezer purely so I could stock it with cut price meat.

It's the one tip that I tell everyone about how to keep food costs down. Stalk your local supermarkets and see what days and times they reduce the meat and do a "meat" shop, then create a menu plan from the meat that is in the freezer.

The ONE exception to this rule is steak. To cook the perfect steak you need a good quality cut of meat from a reputable butcher. The quality of the meat is as important as the care you take in cooking it.

Add the EDMK Steak Spice Rub along with some butter and garlic and you have an amazing steak to serve with your favourite sides.

Prep 5 min // Cook 10 min

4 x good quality steaks

1 tbs EDMK Steak Spice Rub (see below)

1 ½ tbs olive oil

2 tbs butter

3 cloves of garlic sliced thinly

  1. Rub ½ tbs oil over the four steaks, sprinkle the EDMK Steak Spice Rub over both sides and gently massage in.

  2. Let the steak rest to room temperature (approx. 20 min).

  3. Heat the remaining oil and butter in a pan and add the garlic.

  4. When the pan is hot, cook the steaks. Turn after 2 minutes on either side and continue to turn each minute until cooked to your liking.
